Wayne Wright Howard was born on March 29, 1949, in the United States, and died on December 9, 2007. He is best remembered for his work at Charlton Comics during the 1970s, where he became a notable figure in horror and supernatural comics. Howard made history as American comics' first series creator to receive on-cover credit from the publisher, with each issue of the anthology *Midnight Tales* prominently declaring "Created by Wayne Howard"—a distinction that was nearly unprecedented at the time. His career spanned from 1968 to 1991, during which he contributed as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on about 70 issues. His most frequent titles included *Ghost Manor*, *Ghostly Tales*, *Haunted*, *Ghostly Haunts*, and *Monster Hunters*. Howard's style was well-suited to the eerie, atmospheric tales Charlton specialized in, and he collaborated with other house talents of the era. Though he never reached the mainstream fame of some peers, his pioneering creator credit helped pave the way for greater recognition of artists in the industry. His legacy endures among collectors and historians of Bronze Age horror comics.
