Charlton's Ghostly Haunts #54 delivers a wonderfully eerie winter scene courtesy of cover artist Steve Ditko, showing a desperate man in a heavy coat and aviator helmet lurching through a snow-blanketed landscape while a translucent ghostly apparition looms behind him — the title "The Hunted Man!" says it all. The cold blues and purples of the snowy setting make that glowing phantom shadow all the more unsettling, with bare trees and power lines adding to the isolation. With interior work by writer-artist Wayne Howard and a script by Nicola Cuti, this 1977 Charlton anthology delivers the kind of supernatural suspense the series did so well.
