Vincenzo Colletta, born October 15, 1923, and passing on June 3, 1991, was an American comic book artist and art director best known as one of Jack Kirby's primary inkers during the Silver Age. His precise, clean inking style brought definition to Kirby's explosive pencils on some of the earliest issues of *Fantastic Four*, and he had a celebrated, lengthy run on the character Thor in both *Journey into Mystery* and *The Mighty Thor*. Colletta entered comics in the 1940s, working for Timely Comics and later becoming a key figure at Marvel. His signature work often involved streamlining Kirby's dense figures, though his approach occasionally drew criticism from purists. Beyond Thor, he inked numerous issues of *Captain America*, *Daredevil*, and *Dazzler*, collaborating with artists such as John Romita Sr. and Gene Colan. He also served as an art director for Marvel and later DC Comics. Colletta co-created the Marvel villain the Grey Gargoyle with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. His later years saw him working in advertising and teaching. He received no major industry lifetime awards, but his contributions remain a subject of debate among fans, with his work on Thor standing as his most enduring legacy.
