“The Stalker in the Sands!”

Marvel Two-in-One #12 (November 1975) pairs the rocky powerhouse Ben Grimm with the armored Avenger Iron Man against one of Marvel's most theatrical villains — Prester John, shown center-cover in flowing red robes, wielding the gleaming Power-Stone and commanding his would-be slaves to kneel. Iron Man looms large on the left while the Thing's craggy form fills the right, both clearly caught in the grip of that artifact's blinding energy blast. Jack Kirby and Frank Giacoia deliver a cover that crackles with old-school grandeur, perfectly setting the stage for Bill Mantlo and Ron Wilson's "The Stalker in the Sands!
