Lou Cameron
Lou Cameron was an American writer and artist whose career in comic books spanned from the early 1950s into the 2020s. Born on June 20, 1924, he is best known for his extensive work on the *Classics Illustrated* series, where he contributed as an artist, colorist, inker, and letterer across 136 issues. His credits also appear on the line’s international editions, including *Illustrierte Klassiker*, *Illustrerade klassiker*, and others. Cameron’s style was clear and narrative-driven, suited to adapting literary classics into a visual medium. He often collaborated with other creators on these adaptations, though his solo contributions were significant. Beyond comics, he wrote novels and worked in other fields, but his legacy in the industry rests on his long association with *Classics Illustrated*, helping bring stories like *The Last of the Mohicans* and *The Hunchback of Notre Dame* to a young readership. He died on November 25, 2010. While not a recipient of major industry awards, Cameron’s steady, reliable work made him a fixture in the golden age of comic-book adaptations.
