“Deadly Double”

In "Deadly Double," a storm strands a plane crew at a remote Arctic base, leading them to take refuge in an ice-covered cave—only to awaken ancient Vikings frozen in time. As the men grapple with the eerie presence of the long-lost Norsemen, a sudden search party’s arrival sends them fleeing, triggering a chain of events that may be far more dangerous than the storm ever was. Lou Cameron’s stark, atmospheric art brings the frozen isolation and mounting dread to life, while William Ekgren’s cover captures the chilling moment just before the ice breaks.

A routine supply air drop trip to their air base in Thule in northern Greenland is interrupted by an unexpected snowstorm, forcing the ship to crash land. Taking shelter in an iced over cave, the crew discovers ancient Vikings encased in ice, who are accidently released by the fire they had built to keep warm. They view the Captain at Lief Ericson, who they blame for having them frozen in ice because they had stolen a necklace from him. Just then, airplane motors are heard of a search party, and the crew bolts out of the cave as gasoline expodes, causing a cave-in.
