When Commander Rick Colton's ship mysteriously loses breathable air high above Earth, he discovers humanity faces an unthinkable catastrophe: the planet's atmosphere is being poisoned and descending day by day. In the year 2552, when mysterious destructive creatures called human meteorites begin systematically obliterating planets across the solar system, the interplanetary council turns to Cosmo, Earth's representative, to infiltrate the invaders and uncover their source. Cosmo devises a daring plan to disguise himself as one of the meteorites and infiltrate their ranks, but unknown to him, a traitor among the planetary governors may be pulling the strings behind the attacks. Racing against time and suspicion, Cosmo embarks on his perilous mission to trace the creatures back to their base and discover the identity of the mysterious power controlling them.

On the moon Japetus, a disgraced official named Zorka escapes from exile seeking revenge, rallying outlaws across the galaxy to seize control of the planetoid's vital atmosphere station—and trap the daughter of its director. John Morgan, a special investigator for the Earth Council Security Force, must race against time to stop Zorka's scheme before the desperate criminal can consolidate his dark new power.
