Who is Hydra Bob?

An ordinary, thoroughly cowardly man, Bob Dobalina stumbled into employment as a low-level Hydra grunt purely for the health insurance. Lacking any superhuman ability or real bravery, he was reluctantly drafted into misadventure as an unlikely sidekick to Deadpool.

Few characters capture the accidental charm of the Modern Age quite like Hydra Bob, the lovably hapless everyman who stumbled into Marvel's spotlight via Cable & Deadpool #38 in 2007, courtesy of the sharp comedic instincts of Fabian Nicieza and Reilly Brown. More footnote than fearsome, Bob has nonetheless carved out a surprisingly durable niche across Cable & Deadpool, Deadpool, and Deadpool Max, racking up 52 catalog appearances that speak to a fan following far exceeding his modest origins. He keeps genuinely wild company β€” sharing pages with the likes of Weasel, Jack Hammer, and Nathan Summers himself β€” which says everything about the chaotic corner of the Marvel Universe he calls home. With a key issue already to his name and a publishing presence stretching from 2007 into 2018, Hydra Bob is proof that in the right hands, even the most unlikely face in the crowd can become utterly unforgettable.
