About the series
From 2006 to 2008, DC Comics unleashed Shadowpact, a 25-issue series that assembled a motley crew of magical misfits—including Blue Devil, Detective Chimp, and Eve Eden—into a supernatural strike force. Written primarily by Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges, with art from Tom Derenick, Phil Winslade, and Willingham himself, the book spun out of the Day of Vengeance miniseries and carved its own corner of the DCU, blending dark fantasy with a wry, character-driven sensibility. It matters as a cult-favorite ensemble book that proved the appeal of a magic-based team operating outside the Justice League’s shadow.
