This October 2006 issue puts Blue Devil front and center — the blue-skinned, horned hero gripping his golden trident staff as he squares off against a massive, red-eyed reptilian creature looming in the foreground, while a winged demon and a crackling, lightning-wreathed figure clash in the fiery red sky above a city street. The cover by Steve Scott and Wayne Faucher has real energy to it, capturing the chaotic supernatural scale that Shadowpact does so well. With Bill Willingham writing and the spotlight firmly on Blue Devil's "day in the life," this is a great single-issue showcase for one of DC's most underappreciated supernatural heavy-hitters.
