“Three Laws Safe: Part One of the Demon Triptych”

The supernatural team of Shadowpact looks anything but united on Tom Derenick and Wayne Faucher's cover for issue #9, as the banner promises a clash between The Demon and both Blue Devil and the assembled team. The blue-skinned, tusked Blue Devil surges forward at the bottom of the composition, while the golden-helmed Etrigan the Demon charges center-stage amid a tangle of bodies that includes a shrouded figure, a sword-wielding simian, a green-clad sorceress unleashing a burst of magical energy, a caped figure, and a dark-haired heroine at lower right — everyone in dynamic, barely-contained motion against a fiery orange sky. Bill Willingham's "Three Laws Safe: Part One of the Demon Triptych" promises a meaty first chapter of what looks to be a genuinely turbulent arc for DC's occult heavy-hitters.
