About the series
DC’s My Greatest Adventure (1955–1964) began as an anthology of science-fiction and fantasy tales, often illustrated by Ruben Moreira, Howard Purcell, and Bill Ely, with scripts by Jack Schiff and Arnold Drake. The series is best remembered for a bold creative pivot in its final issues, introducing the misfit superteam the Doom Patrol—led by the brilliant Dr. Niles Caulder and comprised of Negative Man (Larry Trainor), Robotman (Cliff Steele), and Elasti-Girl (Rita Farr)—alongside the comedic Peter Puptent. This 85-issue run matters as the launchpad for one of DC’s most beloved and unconventional teams, blending the publisher’s Silver Age adventure with a distinctly human, tragic edge.
