“I Escaped from Castle Morte!”

Three tales of daring fill this September–October 1955 DC anthology, headlined by "I Was a Jungle Ringmaster!" and rounded out by "My Strangest Manhunt!" and "I Escaped from Castle Morte!" John Prentice's cover sets a wonderfully tense scene: a determined man in shirtsleeves directs a charging tiger and a snarling lion against a group of rifle-toting soldiers scrambling in panic through a jungle clearing, with one barking the command "Go on — get their weapons!" It's the kind of pulpy, high-stakes tableau that made My Greatest Adventure one of DC's most entertaining anthologies of the mid-1950s.
