A man in everyday clothes scrambles across a precarious wooden bridge, clutching a small pink creature, while two red-suited, yellow-helmeted alien figures close in from either side — and his desperate word balloon warns that whole cities hang in the balance if those aliens reclaim their strange pet. The cover story, "I Stole the Space Beast!," sets up a wonderfully tense sci-fi dilemma that captures everything DC's anthology titles did so well in 1959: ordinary people thrust into extraordinary, cosmos-spanning trouble. Cover pencils by Dick Dillin and inks by Sheldon Moldoff give the scene a crisp, kinetic energy that makes it hard to look away.
