G.I. Joe: Origins

During IDW’s 2009–2011 run, G.I. Joe: Origins peeled back the curtain on the team’s most iconic operatives, with Larry Hama, Chuck Dixon, and David Lapham scripting the early days of characters like Scarlett, Hawk, and the Baroness. Artists Mike Hawthorne, Werther Dell’Edera, and Álex Cal brought a gritty, modern sensibility to these origin stories, grounding the Joes’ high-octane world in personal stakes. As a companion series to IDW’s main G.I. Joe line, it deepened the mythos by exploring what forged these soldiers and spies into the legends they would become.
