Dr. Taggart leads the hunt for Zartan. His shape shifting abilities make the hunt difficult. He kills Bryson, leading his pursuers to believe that he died. He returns to base, contacts the Commander, and gets his freedom and the death of Taggart in exchange for his service. He revisits his home town, showing that he has retained some of the original Zartan's memories.
