The Autobots and their Nebulan allies invent a new technology where six Nebulans are bio-engineered to transform into weapons that are then linked to six of the Autobots. These six become the Autobot Targetmasters. Unfortunately, the Decepticons and their Nebulan allies copy the tech, and develop five Targetmasters of their own. After a pitched battle that leaves Nebulos in ruins, the Autobots and their Nebulan allies decide to abandon Nebulos and head for the planet Earth, hoping that the Decepticons will follow them, which they do.
