The Fury of Firestorm #22

Titled "Origins" right on the cover, this April 1984 issue of The Fury of Firestorm, The Nuclear Man promises a look back at how the Nuclear Man came to be. The cover by Rafael Kayanan and Dick Giordano puts Firestorm front and center — flames blazing from his head, arms outstretched — alongside a winged, red-haired woman in a yellow-and-purple costume, while ghostly blue figures loom in the background: a woman, a roaring beast-like face, an armored visage, and two civilian figures encircled by an atomic symbol. Written by Gerry Conway and Carla Conway with interior art by Pat Broderick and Sal Trapani, this is a rich ensemble of talent tackling what looks to be a pivotal chapter in Firestorm's history.
