The Fury of Firestorm was written throughout its early run by Firestorm's creator Gerry Conway, with the series following Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein's adventures after the character survived the DC Implosion that cancelled his first solo title. By issue #29, Conway was working alongside assistant editor Janice Race, and artist Rafael Kayanan was contributing to the visual look of new villains in the 2000 Committee storyline. The issue was published in November 1984, at a point when DC was deliberately planting Monitor and Harbinger cameos across multiple titles to seed Crisis on Infinite Earths — a coordinated editorial strategy that made even supporting-cast issues of ongoing series part of a larger pre-event narrative.
