Who is Lancaster Sneed?

Lancaster Sneed is a British agent who appeared in Marvel's kung fu comics in 1976. A deadly operative equipped with a chainmail suit and electrified whip, he operates as the villainous Shockwave, clashing with Shang-Chi, the Master of Kung Fu.

Lancaster Sneed is one of those gloriously sinister Bronze Age creations who made the pages of Marvel's Master of Kung Fu crackle with menace when Doug Moench and Paul Gulacy introduced him in 1976. A villain with enough staying power to keep turning up across more than four decades — from Master of Kung Fu to Captain America and beyond — Sneed has carved out a niche as a recurring thorn in the side of some of Marvel's most capable operatives, sharing dangerous pages with Shang-Chi, Leiko Wu, Clive Reston, and Black Jack Tarr. His affiliations with both A.I.M. and Batroc's Brigade place him firmly in the company of Marvel's most colorful and committed bad actors, and that pedigree alone makes him worth seeking out for any collector who loves the street-level, espionage-flavored corner of the Marvel universe.
