☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume continues the Marvel Masterworks reprint series for The Amazing Spider-Man, collecting the web-slinger's early adventures from issues #11 through #20, along with material from Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1. These stories, originally published in the mid-1960s, feature classic encounters with villains like Doctor Octopus, the Green Goblin, and the Vulture, as well as the debut of the Sinister Six. The collection showcases the foundational work of writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, cementing Spider-Man's place as a cornerstone of the Marvel Universe.
"Turning Point" marks a pivotal moment in Spider-Man’s early saga, showcasing the web-slinger at his most vulnerable—struggling with the 24-hour flu while Doc Ock kidnaps Betty Brant in a twisted bid to confront him. With Steve Ditko’s iconic art and Stan Lee’s sharp storytelling, this 2023 Marvel Masterworks edition captures a defining clash where Spider-Man’s identity is tested, even as he battles a zoo full of rampaging animals. The cover, a dynamic collaboration between Ditko and Jack Kirby, perfectly frames the chaos.

Peter has the 24 hour flu when Doc Ock captures Betty Brant in hopes of luring Spider-Man into battle. Ock beats the under the weather web-head and unmasks him, but everyone thinks it’s just Peter trying to be brave by impersonating Spider-Man. Once he has recovered, Spider-Man battles through the wild animals Ock has released from the zoo to take on old six-arms himself.
