Spider-Man crouches trapped beneath a web-like net while a wild-eyed, leopard-skin-clad Kraven the Hunter charges toward him with arms outstretched — it's a tense standoff rendered with all the kinetic energy that cover artist Steve Ditko brings to the wall-crawler's world. The cover caption cheekily promises "one of the newest and greatest" villains Spidey has ever faced, and Kraven's ferocious entrance makes a compelling case. This 1983 reprint of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's original tale is a fine way to experience one of Spider-Man's most memorable rivalries.
