The Amazing Spider-Man #12
In "Unmasked by Dr. Octopus!", Peter Parker is hit hard by the 24-hour flu when Dr. Octopus kidnaps Betty Brant, using her as bait to lure Spider-Man into a trap. With the web-slinger weakened and unprepared, Doc Ock overpowers him, revealing his identity—only for the public to dismiss the truth, thinking Peter’s just pretending. Once recovered, Spider-Man must face off against the mad scientist’s chaos, battling wild animals unleashed from the zoo in a desperate fight to stop Ock’s latest scheme. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated with sharp, iconic precision by Steve Ditko, with colors by Stan Goldberg and letters by Art Simek, the cover by Ditko captures the moment of revelation with chilling clarity.
