Invincible #91

Two superheroes — Invincible and a blue-suited ally — face down an absolutely massive reptilian creature whose rows of jagged teeth and gaping maw fill nearly the entire cover, rendered with striking scale and intensity by Ryan Ottley. The perspective is cleverly dramatic, placing both heroes small against that enormous predator, conveying just how outmatched they appear to be. Robert Kirkman's Invincible consistently delivered this kind of thrilling visual tension in 2012, and issue #91 is a fine example of why the series proudly carried the tagline "The Best Superhero Comic Book in the Universe.
