Mark Grayson stands fists-raised and determined in his yellow-and-black costume, surrounded on all sides by a swarm of blue, insectoid alien creatures with red-domed heads — a tense, outnumbered standoff that makes for one seriously compelling cover. Ryan Ottley's linework crackles with energy, and Bill Crabtree's cool blue palette against Invincible's warm gold suit keeps the hero's eye-catching even amid the chaos. Robert Kirkman's series was confidently billing itself "probably the best superhero comic book in the universe" by 2005, and covers like this one make it hard to argue.
