In "The Keepers of the Crypt," Conan ventures into the ruins of the forgotten city of Lanjau, where he battles a monstrous lizard and teams up with a nameless mercenary to uncover its lost treasure. Together, they face the undead guardians of the crypt—defeated not by strength, but by the power of sunlight—before an earthquake seals their fate beneath the earth. With the city buried and the treasure lost, Conan escapes to a nearby village, where he reunites with Jenna. When soldiers arrive to arrest him, the two flee on horseback into the unknown. Written by Roy Thomas and Robert E. Howard, with art by Barry Smith and inks by Tom Sutton and Palmer, this issue features a cover by Barry Windsor-Smith and John Romita, with inks by Sal Buscema and John Romita.
