Part one of "Night of the Monster Men" kicks off the DC Universe Rebirth era in genuinely unsettling fashion — Yanick Paquette's cover places Batman, Batwoman, and Nightwing at the center of a massive, gaping maw rendered in vivid reds that dominates the entire background, giving the trio an urgent, almost desperate energy. The creative team of Steve Orlando, Tom King, Riley Rossmo, and Ivan Plascencia promises a crossover arc with real teeth, and this 2016 issue sets the tone immediately. If you're following the Rebirth line, this is a compelling starting point for what looks to be one of Gotham's stranger and more visceral threats.
