The five X-Men possessed by the Phoenix force begin to summarily shut down the Avengers across the globe. Fearing the Scarlet Witch as the only viable threat against them, they concert their efforts into finding her but fail. The Avengers, still trying to figure out how to stop the X-Men, are approached by the Thunderer who has traveled to Earth from K'un Lun. Iron Fist suggests that they take Hope to his ancestral home to both hide her from the X-Men and to train her in the ways of fighting the Phoenix force.
