The gang is mad at Miss Grundy for being too strict. Jughead overhears the school superintendent tell Mr. Weatherbee that unless her class does well on the next day's test, Miss Grundy will be fired for not being effective. The gang thinks all they have to do is not study for the test and they will be rid of Miss Grundy. That night, all have second thoughts and end up at Jughead's house for a night of studying.
