About this issue

This issue of 2-Gun Western contains fifteen western action stories. The lead story, "Blood on the Moon" by W. J. Reynolds, follows Jud Franklin, who discovers renegade whiskey peddlers operating in the territory while attempting to fetch help for his laboring wife. After an ambush by the peddlers and their associate Cugat, Franklin escapes but finds himself afoot and unable to reach the neighbor midwife. He returns home and, discovering no other options, sets his own newly-built hay barn ablaze as a signal fire to summon Texas Rangers to his aid, confident neighbors will arrive quickly believing Indians are raiding. The issue includes nine additional original stories by various authors, a reprint "classics" section with five earlier stories, and miscellaneous features. Story titles include "Thanks to the Party Line," "Death of a Cowboy," "Safe Conduct," and "Dante Falco," described as featuring a mysterious gunman whose identity and appearance remain unknown. Authors represented include Stephen Payne, John Lumsden, and S. Omar Barker.
