Trevor McCarthy
1976–
Trevor McCarthy is an American comic book artist and illustrator, born in 1976. He is best known for his work across DC Comics, particularly on the characters of Batwoman, Nightwing, and Aquaman. McCarthy’s career in comics began in the late 1990s, and he became a regular presence on major DC titles through the 2000s and 2010s. His signature style combines a clean, expressive linework with a strong sense of mood and atmosphere, often using detailed backgrounds and dynamic figure work to ground fantastical elements. He frequently collaborated with writer Greg Rucka on *Batwoman* and with Kyle Higgins on *Nightwing*. McCarthy co-created the six-issue miniseries *Nightwing: The New Order*, which he fully illustrated. Other notable projects include the miniseries *Batman: Gates of Gotham* and the supernatural series *Klarion the Witch Boy*. He also contributed to *Aquaman* during the New 52 era. McCarthy’s later work saw him move into cover art and interior illustration for various DC titles, with his last credited work appearing in 2019. While he has not received major individual awards, his contributions to *Batwoman* and *Nightwing* remain highly regarded by fans and critics for their visual storytelling and character design.
