“Red, Fright and Blue”

The cover of Nightwing #63 poses the burning question right up front — "Where the Heck Is Nightwing?!" — as Robin and a blue-clad, goggle-wearing figure find themselves surrounded and outnumbered by a crowd of shadowy adversaries. Trevor McCarthy's pencils and Karl Kesel's inks give the scene a kinetic, slightly frantic energy, with Robin's green-gloved hands thrust forward and his companion looking genuinely rattled. Chuck Dixon's story "Red, Fright and Blue" promises an entertaining team-up issue where Nightwing's conspicuous absence is very much the point.
