Sanho Kim
Sanho Kim was born in 1939 in Korea and is recognized as the first artist working in a manhwa style to gain regular publication in the United States. His American career, spanning from 1969 to 2002, was largely spent at Charlton Comics, where he contributed to horror anthologies like *Ghost Manor*, *Ghostly Tales*, and *Beyond the Grave*, as well as the martial-arts title *House of Yang*. In his native South Korea, Kim is best known for creating *Lifi*, the country's first science fiction comic, which became a bestseller by urging readers to rebuild after the Korean War. He later produced the historical series *History of Great Korean Empire*. Across genres and styles, his work consistently reflects Korean pride and resilience. Kim served as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on 92 recorded issues, with notable credits including *Cheyenne Kid* and *Fightin' Marines*. His legacy endures as a pioneering bridge between Korean manhwa and American comics, and his early sci-fi work remains a touchstone in Korean popular culture.
