Olyoptics

Steve Oliff, born February 20, 1954, is an American colorist who has shaped the visual texture of comic books across more than four decades of professional work. Operating under the studio name Olyoptics, he entered the industry around 1978 and built one of the more durable careers in his craft, accumulating credits across 264 issues spanning 1979 through 2024.

Oliff is perhaps most closely associated with the early Image Comics era, where his coloring work on titles such as Spawn, The Maxx, Pitt, and Cyberforce helped define the bold, painterly aesthetic that distinguished that publisher's output in the 1990s. His contributions to Airboy and Strikeback! round out a body of work that cuts across publishers and genres. Olyoptics became recognized as a studio capable of elevating pencil-and-ink pages through sophisticated color choices at a time when computer-assisted coloring was transforming the field.
