Spawn #18
In Spawn #18 (1998), the titular antihero intervenes to save a man known only as the Freak from a brutal street gang. As the Freak recounts his tragic past, he reveals a deep-seated grudge against Dr. Deloreans, whom he blames for the deaths of his family—leading Spawn to consider a dangerous alliance in pursuit of justice. Written by Todd McFarlane, Alan Moore, and Frank Neubauer, with art by Greg Capullo and inks by McFarlane, this issue blends gritty urban horror with a haunting personal quest, all rendered in bold colors by Quinn Supplee, Steve Oliff, and Olyoptics, and lettered by Michael Beck. The cover, penciled by Capullo and inked by McFarlane, captures the story’s intense, brooding atmosphere.
