Morris Weiss was an American cartoonist whose career stretched from the dawn of the comic book industry into the 1970s. Born Morris S. Weiss on August 11, 1915, he began working in comics during the 1930s, eventually landing at Timely Comics, the company that would become Marvel. There, he created the teen-humor character Margie, who starred in her own series and became one of his most enduring creations. Weiss was a versatile craftsman, handling art, writing, inking, and lettering across more than 130 issues, with his work appearing prominently in titles like *Miss America*, *Patsy and Her Pals*, and *Tessie the Typist*. He also contributed to the newspaper strip *Joe Palooka* and, later in his career, became the final cartoonist to draw the long-running strip *Mickey Finn*. Weiss remained active through the mid-1970s, leaving behind a substantial body of lighthearted, character-driven work. He passed away on May 18, 2014, at the age of 98, remembered as a steady hand from the Golden Age whose creations brought a gentle, comedic touch to the early days of superhero-dominated comics.
