Matthew Dow Smith (sometimes credited as Matthew Smith) is an American comic book artist born in the United States. He entered the industry in the late 1990s, with his earliest credited work appearing in 1997. Over the following decades, he established himself as a versatile artist, inker, colorist, and occasional writer across more than sixty issues.

Smith is best known for his work on licensed properties, particularly *Doctor Who* and *Mirror’s Edge*, as well as *Batman ’66 Meets Steed and Mrs. Peel*, *Supernatural: Origins*, *House of Whispers*, and *Night Force*. His style blends clean linework with atmospheric storytelling, often favoring moody shadows and expressive character work. He frequently collaborated with writers like Mike Carey and Brian Augustyn, and his art brought a grounded, cinematic quality to both superhero and horror-infused narratives.
