Night Force #9 kicks off "The Eleventh Man" three-part story with a cover that sets an immediately unsettling tone — a stern, broad-shouldered figure in a suit looms large against a swirling cloud of skulls and ghostly hands, while a goggled, uniformed figure sits coldly in the foreground, the tagline "Evil Unbound!" leaving little doubt about the darkness ahead. Matthew Dow Smith's pencils and Steve Mitchell's inks give both figures a brooding, oppressive weight that feels right at home in DC's 1997 horror-thriller landscape. Marv Wolfman's Night Force has always had a taste for the macabre, and this opening chapter looks ready to deliver on that promise.
