Masakazu Katsura was born on December 10, 1962, in Japan, and is best known as a manga artist who blends superhero action with heartfelt romance. He broke into the industry with *Wing-Man* (1983–1985), but his international reputation was cemented by *Video Girl Ai* (1989–1992), a sci-fi love story that showcased his gift for expressive, cinematic art. He followed that with the popular teen romance *I"s* (1997–1999) and the darker, long-running *Zetman* (2002–2014). Beyond his own series, Katsura worked as a character designer for the anime *Iria: Zeiram the Animation*, the superhero series *Tiger & Bunny*, and the video game *Astral Chain*. His style—clean, dynamic, and attentive to both action and emotion—made him a natural fit for Western audiences, and several of his titles were translated for *Animerica Extra* and other English-language anthologies. In the database, he is credited as artist, writer, colorist, and inker on 70 issues from 1993 to 2007, with his most prominent works including *Neverland*, *Shadow Lady*, and the English editions of *Video Girl Ai* and *I"s [Eyes]*. Katsura remains a respected figure in manga, admired for his ability to balance genre thrills with genuine character-driven storytelling.
