John Calnan
John Calnan was an American comics artist who co-created the character Lucius Fox alongside writer Len Wein. Born on February 26, 1932, he began his career in the industry during the early 1970s, contributing as both an artist and inker on over 120 issues. His most frequent work appeared on Superman, Batman, *Ghosts*, *World's Finest Comics*, *Gigant*, and *The Witching Hour*, with credits spanning from 1970 to 2019. Calnan’s style was clean and expressive, well-suited to the superhero and horror genres he often handled. Beyond his co-creation of Lucius Fox—a key supporting figure in the Batman mythos—he left a steady, reliable mark on DC Comics’ line. He died on December 27, 2016, at the age of 84. While not a household name, his contributions to the Batman family and his decades of consistent work earned him respect among peers and fans.
