In the 1983 German-language Superman Extra #8, titled "...und wurde zu Stein!", Superman collapses during a military attempt to attack a mysterious alien flyer—leaving Batman to track the creature as it builds a nest. When the military plans to destroy the nest with an atomic bomb, Superman intervenes, only to face a new threat: thousands of space-born locusts descending on Metropolis, devouring buildings and vehicles.
