The mystical crystal of Mordru, still in Superboy’s possession from his last adventure with the Legion, grants her a wish to become a superhero. At a campfire, Clark and Pete try to scare the kids with a ghost story—but when the girl transforms into Machtgirl, she turns her powers on them, thinking they’re real spirits. Written by Bob Rozakis and illustrated by John Calnan, with inks by Murphy Anderson and colors by Liz Berube, the cover by Rich Buckler and Bob Oksner captures the moment of transformation.
