Buzz Baxter
Robert 'Buzz' Baxter was a U.S. Air Force colonel and the ex-husband of Patsy Walker. After working as a security consultant, he was subjected to experimental mutation by the Brand Corporation (a Roxxon subsidiary), which transformed him into the feral villain Mad-Dog — granting him enhanced strength, speed, and animal-like senses.
Few characters can claim a Golden Age debut and nearly eight decades of continuous presence in Marvel's universe, but Buzz Baxter has done exactly that — first stepping onto the page in 1944's Miss America Magazine #2, brought to life by the legendary Bill Finger and Pauline Loth. A fixture across Miss America Magazine, Miss America, and Patsy and Her Pals, Buzz has kept lively company with the likes of Hedy Wolfe and the Walker family throughout his long comics life. With 158 catalog appearances and five collector-recognized key issues to his name, he's a rewarding deep-dive for anyone tracing the rich, often-overlooked throughlines of Marvel's Golden Age roots all the way into the modern era.
