Solo Avengers

Marvel’s Solo Avengers (1987–1989) gave Clint Barton—the archer Avenger known as Hawkeye—his own headlining spotlight across twenty issues, sharing the bill with a rotating cast of fellow Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in backup stories. Writers Tom DeFalco, Ralph Macchio, and Chris Claremont, alongside artists Mark Bright, Ron Lim, and June Brigman, balanced Hawkeye’s swaggering solo adventures with his partnership to Bobbi Morse (Mockingbird) and occasional team-ups with Silver Sable. The series carved out a unique niche by showcasing a non-superpowered Avenger as a lead, proving that a quiver of trick arrows and a sharp tongue could carry a book just as well as any gamma-charged punch.
