Harvey Comics’ Sad Sad Sack (1964–1973) took the hapless, eternally downtrodden GI from George Baker’s original strip and deepened his miseries across 46 issues, with Sarge, Cookie, Slob Slobinski, and General Rockjaw piling on the indignities alongside Muttsy.
