About the series
In the mid-90s, Image Comics launched Gen 13, a high-octane superhero series that followed a group of rebellious young adults—including Fairchild, Grunge, and Freefall—who were transformed by a secret government experiment. Co-created and primarily written by Brandon Choi, J. Scott Campbell, and Jim Lee, with Campbell and Gary Frank providing the most frequent artwork, the book became a defining title of the era for its slick, dynamic visuals and its focus on youthful, attitude-heavy characters. Running 39 issues from 1995 to 1998, it captured the pulse of the decade's comic boom, blending sci-fi conspiracy with the soap-opera drama of its teen protagonists.
