“...But You Can't Hide”

The full Gen 13 roster leaps into action across this November 1998 Image issue, with Caitlin front and center in her green-and-purple costume, arms raised in triumph, while Roxy tumbles in the foreground, Grunge flashes a grin at left, Rainmaker crackles with lightning at right, and a flame-wreathed Burnout rounds out the ensemble. It's a confident, energetic team portrait rendered with sharp detail by cover penciler Gary Frank and inker Cam Smith. With Arcudi, Frank, and Smith driving the series at this point, "…But You Can't Hide" promises the kind of kinetic superhero adventure that made Gen 13 such a standout in the late-'90s WildStorm lineup.

I.O. sends the Warhawks out to capture people with gen-active powers. Roxy learns that Gloria Spaulding is not her stepmother but her real mother and that Alex Fairchild is her father (making Caitlin her sister) and doesn't take these stunning revelations very well. Lynch decides to leave the team for awhile, leaving Alex in charge, and he asks his son, Burnout, to join him (he doesn't).
