Dracula dominates this September 1973 cover, his crimson cape sweeping dramatically as he clutches a struggling man — addressed in his speech balloon as Quincy Harker — and taunts him with a threat against his daughter. Below, a group of figures including a man in a wheelchair scramble in apparent alarm, while a ghostly bat-shape looms in the background, all rendered with striking energy by penciler Frank Brunner and inker Tom Palmer. Subtitled "The House That Screams!" right on the cover, this issue promises gothic menace at its most atmospheric, and at just 20 cents it was a genuinely thrilling package of Marvel horror at full throttle.
