Thor by Walter Simonson #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis collection launches Walter Simonson's legendary run on Thor, reprinting the first eleven issues of his tenure (#337–348). Simonson both wrote and drew these stories, introducing the cosmic horse-ship Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder, the alien Beta Ray Bill, and the fire demon Surtur, while deepening the mythic scope of Asgard. The volume includes the iconic 'Doom' storyline and the first appearance of the enchanted hammer's new wielder.
In "Doom!", Walt Simonson returns to the mythic heart of Thor with a story that plunges Balder into a treacherous mission to Loki’s realm, where ancient forces stir and old alliances are tested. When Malekith arrives first and turns Loki against his brother, Balder’s vow of peace is shattered—leading to a shocking act of violence that leaves him broken and alone in the desert. The issue’s stark, powerful art by Simonson, with colors by Steve Oliff and letters by John Workman Jr., brings myth and consequence to life in a 2013 release that stands as a bold, character-driven entry in the Thor saga.
