Who is Malekith?

Malekith is the ruthless ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, a realm of the Marvel Universe's Nine Worlds. Born into the Black Bile Clan, he rose to power through dark sorcery and cunning, becoming a dangerous enemy of Thor and Asgard.

Born from the dark imagination of Walt Simonson in Thor #344 in 1984, Malekith is one of Marvel's most enduringly sinister figures β€” a Bronze Age villain whose brooding menace has kept readers riveted for nearly four decades. He emerged into a legendary run on Thor, sharing those mythic pages with the God of Thunder himself, Odin, and the Warriors Three's own Volstagg and Hogun, immediately placing him at the heart of Asgardian drama. With two key collector issues to his name and appearances stretching from Thor all the way to Carnage and Incredible Hercules, Malekith has proven far more than a one-arc wonder β€” he's a dark thread woven stubbornly through Marvel's cosmic tapestry. If you love your mythology with a razor edge and your villains with genuine staying power, this is a character well worth hunting down.
